For patients in remote or inaccessible locations without a proper ambulance network or the appropriate medical personnel, much wasted time and mismanagement of condition can occur in the event of an AMI. Telemedicine offers innovative and effective tools to achieve early management of AMI for these patients, addressing the critically time-dependent nature of treating AMI. In one implementation, telemedicine devices are placed in the ambulance or local offices where patients are expected to show up. Upon patient arrival, the device is used to obtain a 12-lead EKG which is then wirelessly transmitted to a remote network of trained cardiologists, available 24/7 to promptly interpret the EKG and communicate treatment plans. ITMS is a Brazil-basd company that has specialized in telemedicine for the past 12 years.
